National Research University of Electronic Technology is a leading Russian technical university in the field of high technologies. Up-to-date laboratories, innovative technologies and a new approach to the educational process make MIET the leader in training qualified specialists in the field of micro- and nano-electronics, telecommunications and information technologies. Moreover, the University is located in Zelenograd, the recognized city of innovations, the largest research and production center of the country. Training qualified specialists for high-tech industries of Russia and other countries is the main area of focus of MIET educational activities. The University offers bachelor and master programs, as well as prepares postgraduates and doctoral candidates. Today MIET is the leader among Russian universities in carrying out scientific research per teacher. A unique scientific and innovative infrastructure has been created at the premises of the University in order to facilitate carrying out research, development and manufacture of prototypes as well as promotion of new knowledge-intensive products on the market. Annually over 300 scientific research and experimental design projects are performed at the University.

MIET was again ranked among the best universities in the developing countries of Europe and Central Asia according to QS British company QS Quacquarelli Symonds presented the QS University Ranking: Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2017/18. MIET was ranked 160-170, improving its indices by the following criteria: Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation. In total, there are 97 Russian universities in the published part of the ranking included 300 educational institutions; this is more than last year. The ranking takes 9 criteria into account: the academic reputation, the reputation among employers, the academic staff and students ratio, the percentage of foreign teachers and students, the academic staff publication activity, the publications citation rate, the percentage of employees with post-graduate degrees, the internet resources efficiency.
